1998 has been a good year for R Kelly, as he was nominated for five Grammys and took home more than half of them. He received this prestigious award for the Best R&B Song, Best Male R&B Performance and Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media.

What did he win the three Grammys for? The song that brought him these awards is none other than the legendary I Believe I Can Fly. Even though the movie it was written for, Space Jam, was mediocre at best, the song was absolutely incredible.

To be completely honest, it remains one of our favourite songs to this day, even though it is more than 20 years old. It was great then, and it is still great today.
But what about other times R Kelly came close to scoring a Grammy? How many times was he nominated? Well, apart from the three wins we told you about, R Kelly was nominated 23 more times. Since 1996, he has been consistently nominated for a Grammy almost every year. With the exception of 1998, when he managed to grab three awards, he has not won any before or after that.
He received nominations in the categories like Song Of The Year, Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, Best R&B Album, Best R&B Performance (both for his solo tracks and for his collaborations) and several other ones.
